Pizza Luce was born in 1999 from a simple but powerful idea: that great pizza should be an expression of art, community, and genuine passion. Our founder, inspired by years of traveling through Italy's culinary regions, returned to St. Paul with a suitcase full of recipes and a dream to share authentic wood-fired flavors with the Twin Cities.

What started as a 12-table dining room on Selby Avenue has grown into a beloved St. Paul institution. We've expanded to three locations across the metro, yet we've never wavered from our founding principles: source locally, bake with integrity, and treat every guest like family.

Today, our wood-fired ovens run from 11am until the last pie is pulled late at night. Every dough ball is hand-stretched. Every sauce is made from scratch. And every pizza that leaves our kitchen carries 25 years of craftsmanship and love.

1999

The First Pie

Pizza Luce opens its doors at 1183 Selby Ave, St Paul. With a 12-table dining room, one wood-fired oven, and a menu of 8 signature pizzas, the dream begins.

2003

Minneapolis Expansion

Demand drives us across the river. Our Uptown Minneapolis location opens to packed houses every night, introducing the Luce experience to a new neighborhood.

2007

Best Pizza in MN Award

Minnesota Monthly names Pizza Luce "Best Pizza in the State" — a milestone that validates our craft and brings a wave of new loyal guests through our doors.

2012

Farm-to-Table Pledge

We formalize our Local First sourcing program, committing to partner exclusively with Minnesota farms for all seasonal produce and dairy ingredients.

2016

Third Location Opens

Richfield welcomes Pizza Luce's third full-service location, complete with an expanded catering kitchen and dedicated event space for up to 80 guests.

2020

Community Through Crisis

During the pandemic, Pizza Luce pivots to deliver 10,000+ free meals to healthcare workers and food-insecure families across the Twin Cities metro area.

2024

25th Anniversary

We celebrate 25 years with limited-edition heritage pies, a cookbook launch, and a weeklong block party on Selby Ave — thanking St. Paul for a quarter century of love.

Trained in Naples and Bologna, Marco brought Italy's finest pizza traditions to St. Paul. His 72-hour dough technique is the soul of every Pizza Luce pie.

Sarah joined Pizza Luce in 2004 and has orchestrated our growth from one to three thriving locations while keeping our quality and culture perfectly intact.
